Actors: Find Your Flow

As actors, we've all been there—those pre-performance jitters that make your heart race and palms sweat. In my recent conversation with Masha Kay, a breathwork and nervous system coach, we explored how actors can harness their nervous system to their advantage.

Masha explained the difference between everyday nerves and our body's alarm system. She shared some truly eye-opening techniques to help actors calm their nerves and stay focused, even in high-stakes moments. She stressed on practical techniques to help regulate our nervous system through breathwork that helps actors maintain their composure and deliver their best performance.

She also highlighted the power of "play" as the opposite of trauma, explaining that engaging in playful activities can quickly bring us back to a regulated state. It’s kind of interesting because this idea fits perfectly with the actor’s need to stay flexible and creative under pressure.

Masha’s insights are invaluable for any actor looking to manage their nerves and deliver more authentic, grounded performances. Check out this whole interview and start changing how you approach acting.
